Fall Forum 2008

Saturday, November 22nd, 2008

Oooooooohhh man. Today was, in a word, amazing. Anyone who went and just came back a few hours ago will agree. That was, by far, the best Fall Forum I’ve been to in my three years in OCJCL (my first is a CLOSE second….like, by less than a nanometer). A large part (ok…HUGE part) was being able to see many awesome and lovable friends I met at the National convention, but it was mainly because of YOU ALL. All of you (who attended) were wonderful today. I don’t think I could ask for a better delegation to lead….except the NC delegation as a whole…but you all would still be a part of that. All of you just got right into everything you did. It was…just great. Thank you all.

AND NOW FOR THE AWARDS!!!!!!!

OCJCL
- 3rd Place Spirit - Rudolph and a huge bag of M&M’s
- 2nd Place Silly Olympica - Barrel of monkeys, pirate stickers, rubber chicken, shiny blue ribbon wig, candy watches

Individual
- Savannah Gerlach - 2nd Place Novice Certamen team
- Alden Roberts - 3rd Place Novice Certamen team

That’s the first time I’ve seen us place in the Spirit competition at Fall Forum…or the Silly Olympica for that matter. I’ve seen Certamen team placements, but that’s only because we’ve got great players, but I don’t think I’ve seen people place in Novice, so great job!

And now, we prepare for State Convention. Now, we prepare for everything. We prepare for the scrapbook competition, we prepare for the art competitions, we prepare for dramatic interpretations and essays, we prepare for Olympica, we prepare for Certamen, and we prepare…FOR SPIRIT!!!

When next we meet, we’ll be heading out to Charlotte for the Pompeii exhibit at the Discovery Place! Wednesday, December 3rd, at the train station in Burlington, at 7:30, we meet for our next awesome day. Our next actual meeting: Wed. December 11th at the usual time in the usual place. The Wednesday after, the 17th, we go carolling @ Carillon at 7:00. Also, right now, it’s looking like Saturnalia will be at Lauren Tilley’s house on Saturday, December 20th. We’ll go over that extremely in depth at the next meeting.

I hope all of you had an unforgettable time at Fall Forum this year, and I CANNOT WAIT until State Convention comes around!! O-C-JCL!!!

~Your Consul

P.S. - I’ll get pictures from FF up ASAP!!! Along with our pictures from Nat’l Con…..

Fall Forum ‘07!!

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

Soo.

Fall Forum was amazing!!!!!

We had several of our JCLers do fabulously in their fields.
Tucker Owen scored well on his Novice team in Mixed Certamen; they got first place.
Lindsay Davis(subbing for Elena Black, haha) placed first with her team in Intermediate Mixed Certamen.
And while our wise Upper level students didnt place in the top three, I know(being one myself) that they gave their best..b/c those were some craaaazzzay questions!

We did well in Silly Olympics, though I am not certain what they placed in the other events,
I do know that we placed 1st in the chariot race!
Congrats to Leslie, Autumn, Erika, Taylor, and…uh…Phil? Possibly Megan? idk. I dont exactly remember. So sue me. But I love you all still!!

Anyways.
Congrats to all!
I am exceedingly proud to say that I am a member of OCJCL.
Of the OCJCL.

As for Spirit, we were cheated once again… :(
But no worries. State Con has got it coming b/c we are going to rock out with..well…you catch my drift I’m sure haha
But I heard we placed 4th in Spirt…I could be wrong.
But I think we were amazing…with our Spaceballs Helmets and Sheet Capes, and amazingly quik-fix swords of foam n duct tape.

So yea.
The mouthgasm wasnt as good as i anticipated…
But everything else was amazing!
Our beloved Dictator and former Praetor(?) Thomas and Chris were there as SCLers and it was great fun to see them both again…and to see Thomas and his beastly beard was fantastic, was it not? Haha
Now.
It is time for you’re wondermous Consul to be fleeing off to places unknown…or known, depending on who you are.
The next rendezvous shall be the Mixxer at Danielles on Tuesday, all should have/or will recieve flyers for this.
Good Night and I shall see you all Tuesday!
Much love. <3

You’re ever glittery Consul

P.S.
Thomas and Alex, I want to learn the Soulja Boy!
